The HMRC app is an easy way to view your employment history, income, tax codes and National Insurance number. It’s free and secure – and you can use it any time, on any smartphone or tablet.
Once you’ve signed in, you’ll see a section called Pay As You Earn – also known as P A Y E. Here you can check your tax codes and income from employers, for current and previous tax years.
You can also view a detailed summary of your PAYE Income Tax History. This information may be useful for:
- Pre-employment checks
- Self Assessment return
- Your tax agent, accountant or bookkeeper
And some mortgage providers accept this information as evidence for a mortgage application.
Here you can view all in one place a breakdown of what we know about your income for the current year, and for previous years too.
It also confirms your current address and your National Insurance Number – so there’s no need for you to contact HMRC to confirm these details. You can print this page or download it.

You can download the app from Google Play for Android devices, or from the App Store for Apple products.
Once you’ve used the app, you can sign in again using your 6-digit pin, facial recognition, or your thumbprint.
